This is a 1969 photo of Harlem CORE chairman Jerome Smith (center). To his right, standing, is Waverly Yates, then the Northeast Regional chair. To his left, sitting is Long Island CORE chairman Lamar Cox. The meeting was in response to the attempted bombing of Mel Jackson’ s home. Jackson was the former Long Island CORE chairman and then on CORE’s National Action Council.
