photo of CORE founder and National Director, James Farmer
Description
This is a photo of James Farmer, one of the founding members of CORE and its National Director from 1961-1966. He is considered along with Dr. Martin Luther King, Whitney Young, Roy Wilkins and John Lewis one of the principal leaders of the Civil Rights movement. As a member of CORE, he risked life and limb time and time again as part of the organization's decades long struggle to fight discrimination and end segregation in the United States.
