Description
This is a photo of Harlem CORE member Quincy Boykin.
A Vietnam Vet, he received his B.A. in history from Lehman College/CUNY. He also served as the Vice Chairman of the Manhattan chapter of the New York Black Political Assembly, an outgrowth of the national Black Political Conventions of the 1970's.
Quincy is one of the many members of Harlem CORE who eventually became leaders in New York City's municipal agencies. He served as Director of Consumer Affairs for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Mr. Boykin passed in 2003. Roy Innis, in speaking at his memorial service, "told a story how after Quincy returned from Vietnam, where you would have expected him to be brutalized, he stopped a beating at a Black Power conference. "You the man, we the man," he concluded. "
