Harlem CORE members
Description
This is a photo of Harlem CORE member Ralph Poynter, 'hero' of the public school protests Harlem CORE led during the late 1960's.
Lynne Stewart, his wife, was a librarian at PS 175 where he worked as a teacher and where the protests started. She is also a well known human rights attorney recently convicted and sentenced on dubious charges including conspiracy. Several members of Harlem CORE, both 'nationalists' and 'civil rights' types, have spoken very highly of her.
