This is a 1968 photo of New York CORE member Omar Abu Ahmed (right, bald head) standing next to SNCC chairman H. Rap Brown (left, sunglasses).
As an active member of New York CORE, Ahmed attended the March on Washington. He was also a founding member and a chairman of East River CORE. He was also a principal organizer for the National Black Power Conference held in Newark, New Jersey, 1967, the second of such Black Power conferences.
Mr. Ahmed passed in 2009.
